Dog Health Insurance - Pro’s and Con’s (if you can find any ..)

After having to pay a hefty vet bill for one of my animals (though we still could not save that poor guy) I took a closer look at pet insurances and found out, that I would have saved a bundle. The decision to get insurance then was an easy one, I have 3 pets at home. I decided upon Quick Care, a company that covers the U.S and Canada.

When talking to a veterinarion I had to find out about the frustrating fact that many animals are put to sleep because the owner cannot afford to pay the - mostly - high vet bills. Don’t let this happen to you! Besides providing your pet(s) with proper food, nutrition, care and attention, please make sure that in case of an emergency or a serious illness the doctor bills can be covered.

For as little as $10.00/month you can get your dog started and never have to worry again! Quick Care offers a variety of options, even the “Senior Plan” for older dogs, are affordable.

We have listed the average expense for most common accidents/treatments, just to give you an idea how costly it can become in case your animal, or one of your animals, needs emergency care or hospitalization and surgery.

  • Cancer treatments
    $3,600
  • Motor vehicle accident
    $3,200
  • Fractured leg
    $2,300
  • Ingestion of foreign body
    $2,100
  • Bladder stones
    $1,200
  • Infection
    $1,200
  • Quick Care Insurance covers these costs with little or no deductible. This company even allows you a vet of your choice, that means you don’t have to suddenly change veterinarian in case of an accident or a special treatment (does not apply for every insurance).

Dog Health Insurance start at $9.95 and can be upgraded to QuickCareGold plans also.

QuickCare offers a special program for senior dogs. QuickCare Senior provides you with coverage for an unlimited number of accidents, up to $2,000 per accident, and coverage for illnesses common to senior pets, up to $2,000 per illness. Coverage includes the major illnesses suffered by older pets such as stroke, seizures, cancer and heart problems.

    QuickCare offers discounts, such as:

  • 10% for Multi pets. When a pet owner enrolls three or more pets, a discount of 10% on each of the policies is applied.
  • 10% for Medical Services Pets. When a pet is a registered medical service pet, such as, guide dog, therapy pet, a discount of 10% on each policy (with proof of registration).
  • 10% discount for an owner trained Medical Service Pet when owner provides a letter from your doctor indicating that the owner is disabled and requires a medical service pet.
  • 5% for microchipped pets registered in the 24PetWatch database.
  • Keep in mind that in an “unlucky” scenario your pet can have more than one accidents/illnesses a year. It’s definitely worth to pay these low monthly premiums to be able to afford treatment.
